When protests exploded on the streets, a brutal dictatorship did what brutal dictatorships do best---cracked down on their own citizens with truncheons, arrests, bullets and violent death.

The following two Dwayne Page articles are reprinted as originally published online by Smithville radio station WJLE, June 25, 2009. The first explains the serious problem at the City’s water plant. The second is a follow-up report, later in the day, that thanks to a used part found in Sparta, the system was fixed temporarily by the emergency "band-aid," hours before the City ran out of water.
